WHAL-FM (95.7 MHz) is a radio station based in Memphis, Tennessee. It plays urban gospel music, a special kind of religious music that is popular in many communities. The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc., a big company that runs many radio stations.

The station is officially licensed to a nearby town called Horn Lake, Mississippi, but its studios are in Southeast Memphis. The place where the radio signals are sent out is in the Midtown area of Memphis.

WHAL-FM also uses a special technology called HD, which allows the station to broadcast in higher quality. This makes the music and shows sound better for listeners.

History

Before it started playing urban gospel music, WHAL-FM was known as "Oldies 95.7" and played classic oldies songs until 2003. Earlier, from December 1993 to April 1999, it was called "96X" and played alternative rock music. Later, the alternative rock format returned on other stations, first at WMFS in 2000 as "93X", and then at WIVG in 2012, which also brought back the old logo that said "Never Blend In".
