The Adriatic Sea
The Adriatic Sea is a beautiful part of the ocean. It sits between the Italian Peninsula and the Balkan Peninsula. This sea is the northernmost part of the Mediterranean Sea. It touches the coasts of six countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Montenegro, and Slovenia.
Many people live along the Adriatic's shores. Big cities such as Bari, Venice, Trieste, and Split are found here. The sea has many islands, mostly along its eastern coast. It also has three basins, with the southern one being the deepest.
The Adriatic Sea is very important for jobs. It helps with fisheries, tourism, and maritime transport. Busy ports like the Port of Trieste and the Port of Split handle lots of cargo and passengers each year.
People have lived around the Adriatic Sea for thousands of years. Different cultures, including the Etruscan, Illyrian, and Greek, and later the Roman Empire, have all called this place home. Today, the Adriatic supports many jobs and is a popular spot for visitors.
