Welcome to Ankara!

Ankara is the capital city of Turkey. It is the second-largest city after Istanbul, with over five million people living there. Ankara is a very important place for government, business, and education.

A City With a Long History

Ankara was once called Ancyra and Angora. Long ago, it was the capital of the ancient Celtic state of Galatia. Later, it became part of the Roman Empire. Today, Ankara is known for its special Angora wool from Angora rabbits and Angora goats.

Fun Places to Visit

Ankara has many parks and green spaces, even though the area can be dry. Families love visiting Atatürk Forest Farm and Zoo, where they can see animals, ride bikes, and enjoy fresh food. The city also has beautiful parks like Gençlik Parkı and Kuğulu Park, where you can see swans.

Learning and Growing

Ankara is famous for its many universities. Some of the well-known ones are Ankara University, Middle East Technical University, and Bilkent University. These schools help make Ankara a place full of smart people and new ideas.

Special Animals

Ankara is home to special animals like the Turkish Angora cat, known for its beautiful, silky white fur. There are also Angora goats raised for their fine mohair, and gentle Angora rabbits loved for their soft fur. These animals make Ankara a fun place to learn about nature!
