Welcome to Apulia!

Apulia, also called Puglia, is a beautiful region in the southeastern part of Italy. It has a long coastline along the Adriatic Sea and is known for its warm weather and lovely landscapes.

Nature and Places

Apulia has some amazing places to explore. The Salento peninsula looks like the heel of Italy’s boot. The highest point is Monte Cornacchia in the Daunian Mountains. There are also two national parks: the Alta Murgia National Park and the Gargano National Park.

The weather is usually warm and dry in summer and mild with rain in winter. Sometimes, cool winds from the north or warm winds from North Africa blow across the coast.

Tasty Foods

Apulia is famous for its delicious foods. Local dishes often use olive oil, tomatoes, and fresh vegetables. Some popular foods include orecchiette pasta, panzerotti (fried pizza pockets), and pasticiotto (a sweet pastry). The region also makes great olive oil and wines.

Fun Facts

  • Apulia grows lots of durum wheat, which is used to make pasta.
  • The area has beautiful small villages, and fourteen of them are part of a special group called “The most beautiful Villages of Italy.”
  • Apulia has two main airports: Karol Wojtyła Airport in Bari and Brindisi Airport in Brindisi.
