Ashgabat

Ashgabat is the capital city of Turkmenistan. It is a busy city with many people living there. Ashgabat is found in Central Asia, a land between the Karakum Desert and the Köpetdag mountains. The city is close to the border with Iran.

A City of Grand Buildings

Ashgabat was founded in 1881. After a big earthquake, the city was rebuilt with many grand and tall buildings. One special place in the city is the Karakum Canal, which brings water from the Amu Darya river.

Fun Places to Visit

Ashgabat has many interesting places to see. The Ashgabat Flagpole is one of the tallest in the world. The city also has beautiful parks like the Ashgabat Botanical Garden. People can enjoy watching sports at places like the Olympic Stadium.

Learning and Culture

The city is a place for learning, with many schools and universities. Turkmen State University is one of the biggest. Ashgabat also has many museums and theaters. The Turkmen State Circus is fun for families.

Friendly City

Ashgabat makes friends with cities around the world. Some of these friends are Ankara in Turkey and Athens in Greece. These friendships help share ideas and culture.
