The Bering Glacier
The Bering Glacier is a very big glacier in Alaska, a state in the United States. It ends in a lake called Vitus Lake, which is close to a wonderful park named Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. This glacier is only about 10 kilometers or 6 miles from a large body of water called the Gulf of Alaska.
The Bering Glacier is fed by a snowy area called the Bagley Icefield. This icefield gives the glacier lots of snow, helping it grow. Together, they make the biggest glacier system in North America.
People named the glacier after an explorer called Vitus Bering. The glacier shows us how strong nature is and how the Earth changes over many, many years.
The Bering Glacier is special because scientists watch it to learn about our planet. Even though it has changed over time, it still tells us important stories about nature.
