Welcome to Cuba!

Cuba is a beautiful island country in the Caribbean Sea. It is made up of the big island of Cuba and many smaller islands. Cuba is where the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic Ocean all come together.

You can find Cuba east of the Yucatán Peninsula, south of Florida and the Bahamas, west of Hispaniola, and north of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. The largest city and capital is Havana. Cuba has about 10 million people, making it one of the bigger countries in the Caribbean.

A Land of Mixes

Cuba’s culture is a mix of many cultures. People from Spain, Africa, and the original Taíno people all helped shape Cuba. The name “Cuba” might come from the Taíno language and mean “great place” or “where fertile land is abundant.”

Nature and Wildlife

Cuba has many special plants and animals. You can find the world’s smallest bird, the bee hummingbird, and the colorful Cuban trogon, the national bird. There are also interesting animals like the Cuban crocodile. The island has forests, wetlands, and even some mountains, making it a place full of life.
