Dominica is a beautiful island country in the Caribbean Sea. It is part of the Windward Islands and is known as the “Nature Island of the Caribbean.” The capital city is Roseau, located on the west side of the island.

Dominica is one of the youngest islands in the world. It still has active volcanic areas. One of its special features is Boiling Lake, which is the world’s second-largest hot spring. The island is covered with lush rainforests full of rare plants and animals.

One special bird that lives only on Dominica is the sisserou parrot. This bird appears on the national flag of Dominica, which has a beautiful purple color. Dominica is part of many international groups, like the Commonwealth of Nations, the United Nations, and the Organization of American States.

The people of Dominica enjoy many fun activities. Cricket is a popular sport, and the island has produced great athletes like Thea LaFond, who won a gold medal at the Paris Summer Olympics in 2024. Music and dance are also important, with festivals celebrating local traditions.

Dominica’s food is delicious and includes dishes like saltfish and “bakes,” a type of fried dough. Meals often feature stews with vegetables and meat, making every dining time special. The island’s culture is a mix of African, European, and Caribbean influences, making it rich and colorful.
