The Eastern world is a name for many different places and cultures. It mostly means parts of Asia, the Mediterranean region, and the Arab world. People sometimes call it simply “the East.”

This idea of an East and a West started a long time ago in Europe. Europeans used the word “Orient” for the East and “Occident” for the West. As they learned about new lands, these ideas spread everywhere.

Eastern culture has many wonderful traditions. It includes ideas about right and wrong, old ways of life, and special beliefs like Buddhism and Hinduism. People in the East also use beautiful writing like Chinese characters and share tasty foods from many lands.

The Eastern world is very different in each place, but all these cultures make the world a richer and more interesting home.
