The Arab World

The Arab world is a group of countries in West Asia and North Africa. Most people here speak Arabic. There are 19 states where Arabs are the largest group.

The Arab world stretches from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Arabian Sea in the east. It goes from the Mediterranean Sea in the north to the Indian Ocean in the southeast. The eastern part is called the Mashriq, and the western part is called the Maghreb.

People in the Arab world come from many backgrounds. Besides Arabs, there are also Berbers, Kurds, Somalis, and Nubians, among other groups. The region has around 456 million people. Some countries are very wealthy, while others are less so.

Long ago, the Arab world was part of big historic empires and caliphates. Today, the Arab League helps these countries work together. It was formed in 1945 to support Arab interests.

Many people in the Arab world follow Islam. There are also Christian communities in several countries. Arabic is the main language, but some places also speak other languages.

The Arab world has a rich history and many interesting cultures. It is a special part of the world with many stories to tell.
