Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Castle is a very old and famous castle in Edinburgh, Scotland. It sits on a tall rock called Castle Rock, which makes it very special and easy to protect. People have lived on this rock since very old times, maybe even the Iron Age.

For many years, kings and queens of Scotland used the castle as their home. After 1633, it became a place for soldiers to live and work. Even today, it is one of the most visited places in Scotland. Many people come to see its old buildings and learn about its history.

One of the smallest chapels in the castle is St Margaret's Chapel, which is over 800 years old. It is still used for special events. The castle also has a very large and old cannon called Mons Meg that people love to see.

Every year in August, the castle hosts the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo during the Edinburgh Festival. This is a wonderful show with music from all over the world. A lone piper plays beautiful songs on the castle walls, which is a favorite part for visitors.

Edinburgh Castle is a symbol of Edinburgh and all of Scotland. It is a place where history comes alive, and people from all over the world come to visit and enjoy its beauty.
