The Edinburgh International Festival is a wonderful celebration of art that happens every year in Edinburgh, Scotland. It takes place during the last three weeks of August. This festival brings together amazing performers from all around the world.

People can enjoy many kinds of shows, like classical music, performing arts, and beautiful art displays. There are also fun talks and workshops for everyone to enjoy.

The first Edinburgh International Festival started on 22 August 1947. It was started by a man named Rudolf Bing from Austria. He loved bringing great art to people. The first festival had many types of shows, like orchestra music, singing, opera, ballet, plays, movies, and even traditional Scottish music and dancing near Edinburgh Castle.

The festival has happened every year since 1947, except in 2020 when it could not happen because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, there was a smaller festival to keep the magic alive.

Today, the festival is led by Nicola Benedetti, a talented Scottish-Italian violinist. She helps make sure the festival stays fun and exciting for everyone.
