Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, the first people to reach the summit of Mount Everest, celebrating their achievement in 1953.

Sir Edmund Hillary was a brave explorer and a very kind man from New Zealand. He loved climbing big mountains and helping people.

He became famous when he and a friend named Tenzing Norgay reached the top of Mount Everest in 1953. This was the very first time anyone had ever stood on the highest point on Earth! Their climb was part of a big group led by John Hunt.

After his big climb, Hillary spent many years helping the people of Nepal. He started the Himalayan Trust, which built schools and hospitals in the mountains. Because of his good work, he received many awards and honors. People all over the world remembered him for his bravery and his big heart.
