Elis
Elis is a beautiful area in the western part of Greece. It is found in the Peloponnese, a big peninsula. The main city here is Pyrgos.
Long ago, Elis was very important. It was home to Olympia, where people held the ancient Olympic Games. Many visitors come to see the old ruins there.
Elis has many different lands. It has green forests, farms, and mountains. The longest river is the Alfeios, which flows into the Ionian Sea. The weather is warm and sunny in summer and cooler in winter.
Today, Elis is split into seven parts, called municipalities. Some of these are Ancient Olympia, Pyrgos, and Zacharo. People here enjoy farming, fishing, and visiting beautiful places.
