What is a Federal City?

A federal city is a special city that has an important job in some countries. These cities are different from other cities because they help with important government work.

Cities Around the World

In Germany, Bonn is a federal city. It is where important leaders, like the President of Germany and the Chancellor of Germany, work.

In Russia, three cities are special: Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Sevastopol.

In Switzerland, Bern is the federal city. It is where important groups like the Federal Assembly and the Federal Council meet.

Many other capitals, like Washington, D.C. and Beijing, also have special roles in their countries.
