The Giant's Causeway
The Giant's Causeway is a wonderful place with tall, rocky pillars that look like puzzle pieces stuck together. It is found on the north coast of County Antrim in Northern Ireland, close to the town of Bushmills.
These special rocks were formed a very long time ago from a big volcanic eruption under the sea. When the hot lava cooled, it cracked into tall, pillar-like shapes. Most of the pillars have six sides, but some have four, five, seven, or even eight sides! The biggest pillars can be as tall as a big tree, about 12 meters or 39 feet.
In 1986, the Giant's Causeway was chosen as a World Heritage Site. This means it is one of the most special natural places on Earth. Many people visit each year to walk on the tops of the rock pillars, which look like steps leading into the ocean. The place is cared for by the National Trust and is free for everyone to explore.
There are also fun shapes to see, like the Organ, the Giant's Boot, and small red rounded rocks called Giant's Eyes. The Giant's Causeway is a beautiful spot to visit and learn about nature's amazing work.
