Great Britain

Great Britain is a big island in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is close to the northwest coast of continental Europe. The island has three countries: England, Scotland, and Wales.

It is the largest island in the British Isles and the largest in Europe. People have lived there for a very long time, about 30,000 years. In 2011, about 61 million people lived on the island.

Great Britain has mild weather, so it is never too hot or too cold. The landscape changes from low, rolling countryside in the east to hills and mountains in the west and north. There are many birds, with over 628 species recorded, including eagles, herons, and sparrows.

The largest city is London, which is the capital of England and the United Kingdom. Other big cities include Manchester, Birmingham, and Glasgow. People there speak many languages, but most speak British English.
