Harvard University
Harvard University is a very old and special school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is the oldest university in the United States. People have been learning here since 1636!
The university is named after a kind man named John Harvard. He gave the school money and books when it first started. At first, Harvard taught lessons for future teachers, but now it teaches many, many subjects.
Harvard has big buildings and beautiful gardens. The main part of the school is called Harvard Yard. Here you can find old libraries, classrooms, and places where students live together. There are also special schools for medicine, law, and business in Boston.
Many famous people studied at Harvard. Some of them became leaders of countries, and others won important prizes for their work. Harvard is known around the world for its smart teachers and its big library with millions of books.
Students at Harvard can play many sports. They have teams for football, ice hockey, and rowing, among others. The school color is crimson, a deep red color. Harvard students love to cheer for their teams!
Harvard often appears in books and movies because it is such an important and famous place. It helps people imagine what a very old and special school looks like.
