The Holy Land
The Holy Land is a special area in the Southern Levant. It is very important to three big religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. People call it the Land of Israel or the Promised Land. It lies between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River. Today, it is mostly in the countries of Israel and Palestine.
Jerusalem is a very special city in the Holy Land. It is the most important city for Judaism and Christianity. For Islam, it is the third most important city after Mecca and Medina. Many people visit Jerusalem to see holy places and feel closer to their beliefs.
Many people from around the world travel to the Holy Land as pilgrims. They visit important places like the Temple Mount and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. These visits help them feel happy and connected to their faith. The Holy Land is a place full of history and peace for many people.
Olive trees, like this one in Jerusalem, have intrinsic symbolism in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
The Baháʼí Faith also has special places in the Holy Land. The Shrine of Bahá'u'lláh and the Shrine of the Báb are in Haifa. These places are very important for Baháʼí people and are visited by many. The beautiful terraced gardens around these shrines are enjoyed by everyone.
