Java Man
Adapted from Wikipedia · Explorer experience
Java Man is an old fossil that scientists found a long time ago. It was discovered on the island of Java in Indonesia. People think Java Man lived between 700,000 and 1,490,000 years ago, which makes him one of the oldest early human fossils ever found!
A scientist named Eugène Dubois and his team found the Java Man fossils near the Solo River. They discovered a tooth, a piece of a skull, and a long leg bone. These fossils helped scientists learn about early humans who lived very long ago.
Java Man was about as tall as a grown-up person today and stood up straight. He had strong bones and big teeth. Scientists believe he might have eaten meat and used simple tools. Many people around the world are interested in Java Man because he shows us how humans might have looked and lived long, long ago.
The fossils are now kept in museums in the Netherlands, but there are plans to bring them back to Indonesia someday. Java Man helps us understand our ancient past and how humans have changed over millions of years.
