Welcome to Jeddah!
Jeddah is a big, sunny city by the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia. It is the second-largest city in the country, just after the capital, Riyadh. Imagine a place where the sea sparkles and tall buildings line the waterfront!
A Special City
Jeddah is very important because it is close to Mecca, the holiest city for Muslims. Many people visit Jeddah when they travel to Mecca for a special journey called the Islamic pilgrimage. The city has grown to welcome these visitors and has become a busy trade center too.
Life in Jeddah
About 3.7 million people live in Jeddah. The city has tall buildings, busy streets, and beautiful places along the water. One of the tallest fountains in the world, King Fahd's Fountain, shoots water high into the sky and can be seen from far away. People love to walk along the Jeddah Waterfront, where there are parks, playgrounds, and nice places to eat.
Tasty Food and Fun Events
Jeddah’s food is delicious and comes from many places. You can try local dishes like Saleeg and Hareira soup, as well as foods from Turkey, Yemen, and other countries. The city also has fun events, like the Red Sea International Film Festival and Jeddah Season, where there are shows and activities for everyone to enjoy.
Getting Around
Jeddah has an airport called King Abdulaziz International Airport, where people fly in and out every day. There are also plans for new trains and buses to help people move around the city more easily. The city is also part of an important sea route called the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, which connects China to Europe.
Jeddah is a lively and interesting city with a lot to see and do. Whether you love the sea, tall buildings, or tasty food, there is something for everyone in Jeddah!
