The region's mountains include the Alban Hills and others made from old volcanic craters, which now hold lakes such as Bolsena, Vico, and Bracciano.
Climate
Lazio has different climates depending on the area. Along the coast, the weather is warm and sunny, like a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hot summers. Inland, the climate is cooler, especially in the winter nights. Rome, the capital, gets plenty of sunshine throughout the year.
