The Levant

The Levant is a special part of the world by the Eastern Mediterranean. It is made up of several countries, including Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, and Israel. This area is very important because it connects three big continents: Africa, Asia, and Europe.

The word “Levant” comes from an old Italian word that means “rising,” just like the sun rises in the east. Long ago, people used this word to talk about lands far to the east of Venice. Today, we still use the name when we study old history, food, and culture from this area.

People in the Levant enjoy tasty foods that are famous all over the world. Historians love to explore old ruins and learn about the many cultures that lived there long ago. The Levant is a place full of interesting stories and beautiful places to visit.
