The London Eye

The London Eye is a very tall, round building in London. It looks like a big bicycle wheel! People from all over the world come to visit it. It is on the South Bank of the River Thames.

The London Eye is very tall—about as high as a 30-story building! It has 32 cozy rooms where people sit to enjoy the view. Each room can hold up to 25 people, and the ride takes about 30 minutes to go all the way around. The views are amazing, showing famous places like Big Ben and many other parts of London.

It was built for the start of the year 2000 by a husband and wife team of architects, David Marks and Julia Barfield. At first, it was supposed to be temporary, but people loved it so much that it became a permanent attraction.

The London Eye is also part of fun events. Every New Year’s Eve, it helps launch beautiful fireworks. It has even changed colors to support important causes. The London Eye is a special symbol of London, just like the Eiffel Tower is for Paris.
