Major League Baseball

Major League Baseball, or MLB, is a special group of baseball teams in North America. There are 30 teams total. Twenty-nine teams are in the United States, and one team is in Canada.

MLB is the best baseball league in the world. It is very popular in both the United States and Canada. Each team plays 162 games during a season. The season starts in late March or early April with Opening Day. After the season ends, the best teams play in a tournament. The tournament ends with the World Series. The World Series is a big championship game between the top two teams. It started way back in 1903.

History

The two main parts of MLB are the National League and the American League. These two leagues began in 1876 and 1901. They joined together in 1903. This made MLB the oldest big sports league in the United States and Canada. The first professional baseball team was the Cincinnati Red Stockings in 1869.

Teams

MLB has many teams from different cities. Some famous teams are the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Chicago Cubs. Each team has its own special uniform and colors. Fans love to cheer for their favorite teams.
