Mswati III

Mswati III is the king of Eswatini. He was born on 19 April 1968 in Manzini. His birth name was Makhosetive Dlamini. He is the son of Sobhuza II and Ntfombi.

When his father passed away, leaders chose Makhosetive to become the next king. He was only 14 years old at that time. He became king on 25 April 1986, just after his 18th birthday. He was the youngest king in the world then.

In 2018, King Mswati changed the country’s name from Swaziland to Eswatini. He is the top leader of the army and police. The king chooses the prime minister and other important leaders, but he asks for advice from the queen mother and a council.

King Mswati has many wives and children. There are special rules about who will be the next king. In Eswatini, a king’s mother helps choose the next ruler.
