Welcome to Norway!

Norway is a beautiful country in Northern Europe. It is part of the Scandinavian Peninsula and includes faraway islands like Svalbard and Jan Mayen. The biggest city is Oslo, which is also the capital.

Norway has been a kingdom for over 1,153 years! It has a rich history, but today it is known for its peaceful and happy society. The country is led by a king, Harald V, and a prime minister, Jonas Gahr Støre. Norway works closely with other countries like the European Union and the United States.

Nature and Climate

Norway’s land is full of amazing sights. It has tall mountains, deep valleys called fjords, and many islands. The sea around Norway is full of fish, and the forests are quiet and green. Because Norway is far north, the sun shines for many hours in summer and barely rises in winter. This gives us the beautiful midnight sun and the aurora borealis, or northern lights.
