Welcome to Palau!

Palau is a beautiful group of islands in the Pacific Ocean. It is part of Oceania and is called the Republic of Palau. Palau is very small, with about 340 islands. It is the sixteenth smallest country in the world.

Most people live on the island of Koror. The capital city is Ngerulmud, which is on the big island of Babeldaob. People have lived in Palau for a very long time, since around 1,000 BCE. They came from places like Maritime Southeast Asia.

Today, Palau is a friendly place where people speak two languages: Palauan and English. The country likes to visit, fish, and grow small farms. Tourism is very important because many people love to dive and see the amazing underwater world.

Palau works hard to protect its nature. It has special areas for wildlife and promises to keep its oceans and forests safe. One big idea is to protect a large area where fishing sharks is not allowed. This helps keep the ocean healthy.

People in Palau enjoy many fun activities. Baseball is a popular sport, and Palau even has a player in Major League Baseball! There are also fun events like the Belau Omal Marathon. Children go to school until they are 16 years old, and some study in the United States.

Palau is a wonderful place with friendly people, beautiful islands, and lots to explore!
