Welcome to Prospect Park!

Prospect Park is a big, beautiful green space in Brooklyn, which is part of New York City. It is the second-largest park in Brooklyn and has many fun things to see and do!

What You Can Find in the Park

The park has lots of places to explore. You can visit the Prospect Park Zoo, where you can see animals up close. There is also a special house called Litchfield Villa that looks like a castle. People love to walk around the park’s lake and sometimes rent boats to paddle on the water.

Things to Do

Prospect Park is great for playing and having fun. You can play sports like soccer, basketball, and baseball on the park’s many fields. There are also tennis courts for tennis lovers. In the summer, the park has concerts at the Bandshell, and in the winter, you can ice skate at the LeFrak Center.

A Little History

Long ago, before the park was built, the land was very different. Glaciers shaped the area, making hills and valleys. Later, people came and changed the land to make it into the park we know today. Famous designers Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, who also designed Central Park, made Prospect Park look like a peaceful countryside with meadows, trees, and winding paths.

Prospect Park is a wonderful place to spend the day, whether you want to play, relax, or just enjoy being outside!
