Summer

Summer is the warmest and brightest season of the year. It comes after spring and before autumn. In summer, the days are long and the nights are short because the sun rises early and sets late.

Summer can feel very different depending on where you live. When it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere, it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and the opposite is also true.

People love summer because the weather is warm and sunny. This makes it a great time to play outside. Many families go on trips, and children are out of school for summer break. Popular activities in summer include going to the beach, having picnics, and playing sports like cricket, association football (soccer), and swimming.

Summer is also a time for fun holidays. In the Northern Hemisphere, countries celebrate special days like Canada Day and Independence Day (United States). In the Southern Hemisphere, people enjoy Christmas Day and New Year's Day during summer.

The word "summer" has been used for a long time. In Middle English, it was called "somer," and in Old English, it was "sumor." No matter where you live, summer is a special time to enjoy the warm weather and have fun outdoors.
