The Southern Hemisphere

The Southern Hemisphere is the bottom half of our planet Earth. It is south of the equator, an imaginary line that runs around the middle of the Earth.

Many wonderful places are in the Southern Hemisphere. You can find the whole continent of Antarctica, beautiful Australia, and most of South America. There are also many islands, like New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

People live in the Southern Hemisphere too! Big cities such as São Paulo, Sydney, and Jakarta are here. The seasons in the Southern Hemisphere are different from the north. When it is summer up north, it is winter down south, and vice versa.

The Southern Hemisphere has some amazing natural wonders. The Southern Ocean surrounds Antarctica, and beautiful lights called the Aurora Australis sometimes dance in the night sky. Unique animals like penguins and plants such as eucalyptus trees live here too.

The Southern Hemisphere is a special part of our world, full of exciting places and amazing sights to explore!
