Sussex
Adapted from Wikipedia · Explorer experience
Sussex is a lovely place in South East England. It is made up of two parts called East Sussex and West Sussex. The name Sussex comes from old words meaning "land of the South Saxons." Long ago, Sussex was its own little kingdom!
Sussex has beautiful coastline along the English Channel. You can visit the city of Brighton and Hove, explore the South Downs National Park, or enjoy the calm water at Chichester Harbour. Every year on June 16, people celebrate Sussex Day to honor the county’s history and culture.
The county has special symbols too. The flag of Sussex shows six gold birds called martlets on a blue background. The round-headed rampion flower is known as the Pride of Sussex. People in Sussex sometimes say, "We wunt be druv," meaning they don’t like to be pushed around!
Sussex is a wonderful place with lots to see and explore. Whether you love the seaside, history, or special traditions, Sussex has something for everyone.
