Who is Vishnu?

Vishnu is one of the main gods in Hinduism. He is called the god of preservation. In a tradition named Vaishnavism, Vishnu is seen as the greatest Lord who creates, protects, and changes the universe.

Vishnu is part of a triple deity called the Trimurti, which also includes Brahma and Shiva. In this group, Vishnu is the preserver. He has a partner named Lakshmi, who helps bring energy and creativity to the world.

When the world has danger or trouble, Vishnu comes down in different forms called avatars to bring balance and protect what is right. Two of the most famous avatars are Rama and Krishna. People honor Vishnu in many temples in India and other places.

Vishnu in Stories

Vishnu is known for coming to Earth in different forms to help people. These forms are called avatars. There are ten main avatars, and each one has its own story. For example, Rama is known for his bravery, and Krishna is loved for his kindness and wisdom.

People in India build beautiful temples to honor Vishnu. These temples are places where families gather to pray and celebrate festivals. One famous temple is the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, which is filled with wonderful decorations and treasures.

Vishnu Around the World

Vishnu is not only loved in India. In Indonesia, he is known as Wisnu and appears in puppet shows called wayang. In Sri Lanka, Vishnu is respected as a protector of the land. Even in faraway places like Thailand and Vietnam, people have learned about Vishnu and his stories.

Vishnu’s influence reaches many parts of the world. In science, there is an asteroid named 4034 Vishnu, and special rock formations in the Grand Canyon are called "Vishnu rocks." These names show how Vishnu’s story continues to inspire people in many ways.
