Winchester

Winchester is a historic city in Hampshire, England. It is near the South Downs National Park and sits along the River Itchen. The city is about 60 miles southwest of London and just 14 miles from Southampton.

Winchester has a very long history. It began as a Roman settlement called Venta Belgarum. During the Anglo-Saxon times, Winchester was one of England’s most important cities. Today, one of Winchester’s famous landmarks is Winchester Cathedral. The city is also home to the University of Winchester and Winchester College, the oldest public school in the United Kingdom that still uses its original buildings.

Winchester is a beautiful place to visit, full of history and lovely old buildings. It is known for its special events and markets, making it a fun place for families to explore.
