The Colosseum
The Colosseum is a very big, round building in Rome, Italy. It is one of the most famous old buildings in the world. People built it a long time ago, and today many visitors come to see it.
The Colosseum is also called the Flavian Amphitheatre. It was built by three emperors named Vespasian, Titus, and Domitian. They are called the Flavian dynasty. The building looks huge and strong because it is made from special stones and concrete.
Today, the Colosseum is very important. It was chosen as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Every year, on Good Friday, a special event called the "Way of the Cross" procession happens there. The Colosseum is also shown on the Italian version of the 5 euro cent coin.
Even though parts of it are old and worn, the Colosseum still stands tall and beautiful. It reminds us of the amazing skills of people who lived long ago in Imperial Rome.
