A Buddhist temple is a special quiet place where people who follow Buddhism come to think and feel calm. These places can have many names like vihara, stupa, wat, and pagoda, depending on where they are in the world.

You can find beautiful Buddhist temples in many places, especially in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia. Each area has its own style, but they all try to create a peaceful space. The design of these temples follows special rules that have been used for a very long time.

Temples are built to help people feel calm and think about good things. They are made to represent important elements like fire, air, water, earth, and space. For example, in India, temples often have one tall building in the middle with smaller buildings around it, looking like small mountains and oceans.

In Thailand, Buddhist temples are called wats. Most wats have two main parts: one area for honoring Buddha and another area for the community of Buddhist people who live there. In Sri Lanka, temples often have special parts like a Stupa, a Bo Tree, and temple buildings.

Buddhist temples are found all over the world, each with its own unique look and feel, but all creating a peaceful place for quiet thoughts.
