Who Was Harald Bluetooth?

Harald Bluetooth Gormsson was a king who ruled Denmark and Norway. He was the son of King Gorm the Old and Thyra Dannebod. Harald lived a long time ago, from around 958 until around 986.

Bringing People Together

Harald worked hard to bring different parts of Denmark together. He helped unite places like Jutland and Zealand under his rule. He also brought Christianity to Denmark, which changed many things for the people there.

Building and Creating

Harald liked to build important places. He made special stones called the Jelling stone and built big forts to protect his kingdom. He even built a very old bridge called the Ravning Bridge, which was very wide and long. Harald also made the first coins for everyone in Denmark to use.

A Name That Lives On

Harald got a nickname, “Bluetooth.” No one knows for sure why, but some think it might be because of a tooth that looked bluish. Today, a kind of wireless technology called Bluetooth is named after him. Just like the king brought different parts of Denmark together, this technology helps many devices connect and work as a team.
