The Beautiful Island of Krk

Krk is a big, sunny island in Croatia, sitting in the sparkling Adriatic Sea. It is close to the city of Rijeka and is one of the largest islands there. Many people visit Krk because it has lovely beaches, old towns, and lots of history.

The island has many places to explore. You can visit the town of Krk, where old stone buildings tell stories from long ago. Near Omišalj, there is an important airport that helps people travel to and from the island. Another fun spot is Malinska-Dubašnica, a favorite place for tourists with beautiful beaches.

Krk also has special nature spots. Birds like the Eurasian griffon vulture live here, and the island is part of an Important Bird Area. The highest point on Krk is a hill called Obzova, where you can see amazing views.

People on Krk have spoken many languages over the years. Today, most speak a special kind of Croatian called Middle Chakavian. The island’s mix of cultures makes it a fascinating place to learn about the past.

Krk is easy to reach because of the big Krk Bridge, which connects the island to the mainland. This bridge makes visiting Krk simple and fun for everyone!
