Rijeka Cathedral
The St. Vitus Cathedral is a beautiful and important building in the city of Rijeka, Croatia. It started as a small church a long time ago and grew into a big, special place for people to visit.
The cathedral looks like a round building, called a rotunda, which makes it stand out. Inside, you can see lovely decorations and statues from the Baroque and Gothic styles. It even appeared on a Croatian money note many years ago.
People have been visiting this place since the Middle Ages. In the 1600s, the Jesuits helped make it bigger and more beautiful. Today, it is a center for the local church and has many special artworks inside, like paintings and statues.
The cathedral is also remembered because Pope John Paul II visited it in 2003. It is a wonderful place to see history and art in the heart of Rijeka.
