Sundaland

Sundaland is a special area in Southeast Asia. Long ago, when the sea level was lower, it was all connected to land. Today, it includes beautiful places like Bali, Borneo, Java, and Sumatra in Indonesia. It also reaches to the Malay Peninsula.

This area is very important for scientists who study plants and animals. Many special kinds of animals and flowers live here. The warm, rainy weather helps forests grow tall and green all year.

When the ice was big long ago, the sea level dropped. This made islands like Borneo and Sumatra connect to each other and to Mainland Southeast Asia. When the sea rose again, they became separate islands. Today, Sundaland is a place where many different animals live because of these changes.

People have known about Sundaland for a long time. Its name comes from old stories and maps. Scientists learned about it by studying the sea and the land. They found clues in the ocean and caves to understand how this place changed over time.
