The Mall, London

The Mall is a famous road in central London. It stretches for about 1 kilometre between Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square. Many important places are along The Mall, like Admiralty Arch, St. James's Palace, and St James's Park.

People love The Mall because it is used for special events. Every year, the London Marathon finishes here. During the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, The Mall was a place for exciting races. It is also where happy celebrations happen for important national days.

The Mall is usually closed to cars on weekends and holidays. This lets everyone enjoy the area for fun events and decorations. The road is a special red colour, like a giant carpet, leading to Buckingham Palace.
