Tulum
Tulum is an ancient city built by the Maya people a long time ago. It is located in Quintana Roo, Mexico, right by the beautiful Caribbean Sea. The ruins of Tulum sit on tall cliffs, giving visitors amazing views of the ocean.
People first wrote about Tulum in the 1800s. Since then, scientists have studied the site and learned that Tulum was important between the 1300s and 1400s. The city had strong walls to protect it and was a special place for trading things like obsidian.
Tulum has some very interesting buildings. One is called El Castillo, a pyramid that is about 7.5 meters tall. There is also the Temple of the Frescoes and the Temple of the Descending God. These buildings have special shapes and decorations that show how clever the Maya people were.
Today, Tulum is a famous place for visitors. People come to see the old ruins and enjoy the sunny beaches with white sand. There are also natural pools called cenotes nearby, which are fun to explore. Tulum is close to other popular spots like Cancún and the Riviera Maya, making it a wonderful place to visit.
