Central Italy has the Apennines mountains running through it. The Adriatic Sea is on one side, and the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ligurian Sea are on the other side. Important rivers here are the Arno and the Tiber. There are also lakes like Lake Trasimeno and Lake Bolsena.

The four main parts of Central Italy are Tuscany, Marche, Umbria, and Lazio. Rome, the capital of Italy, is in Lazio.

Famous Places and Food

Central Italy has many famous places. Rome has amazing old buildings like the Colosseum. Florence in Tuscany is where the Italian Renaissance began. Other nice cities are Siena, Pisa, and Perugia.

People in Central Italy love good food. Roman cuisine uses fresh ingredients. Popular foods include peas, artichokes, fava beans, and special cheeses like pecorino romano and ricotta. Olive oil is used a lot, and there are traditional meals for different days.
